    1. Introduction Thank you for purchasing the “BCP Setting Tool”, a setting tool for the label printers of Toshiba Tec Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Toshiba Tec”). This document gives you a general description such as features for each model of the “BCP Setting Tool”...

    2. Function [Parameter] Screen You can configure and obtain various parameter settings of the printer. The data changed on each setting page are not retained when the screen returns to the top page of the [Parameter] screen. Use [Export to File] to save them. Page Group Item...
  • Page 5 You can use various functions by tapping the menu button in the upper right corner. [Get Parameter] You can obtain the parameter setting value from the selected printer and update the display. The parameter setting values are obtained from the printer for all pages, groups and items. Items to be changed from the currently displayed value are displayed in red.

    [General] page [Image] group [Character Code] Selects a character code table to be applied to the printer font. Default PC-850 PC-850, PC-8, PC-852, PC-857, PC-851, PC-855, PC-1250, PC-1251, Options PC-1252, PC-1253, PC-1254, PC-1257, LATIN9, Arabic, PC-866, UTF-8 [Zero Font] Selects whether or not to attach a slash to the printer font character “0”. Note that no slash is attached to the following fonts, regardless of the settings.

When the value is negative (-), the feed length to the stop position becomes longer. When the parameter is not retrieved, the PC value set by the Position Fine Adjust command [AX] becomes zero (0).

    This name is used for detection by other devices. Enter up to 32 alphanumeric characters and spaces. Default TOSHIBA TEC BT [Inquiry] Selects whether or not to make a response to an inquiry from the host. When selecting “Enable (60 seconds)”, a response is made to an inquiry only within 60 seconds after the printer is turned on.

Connectivity may be improved by decreasing the value under the environment where connection takes time. However, if a smaller value is set, the power consumption of the printer is increased.     Even when the printer can start up normally, download the firmware again. If the printer cannot start up, contact your Toshiba Tec sales representative. Furthermore, in the case of a Bluetooth connection, this will be disconnected due to the printer being rebooted after downloading.
  • Page 30  Adding a file By using the file-sharing feature or the [File] application, save the firmware file to the folder of the selected printer. (Refer to “iTunes file-sharing” in “3. Preparation” of the Basic Manual.) Then, select the firmware file you want to download for this product. Multiple files can be selected at the same time.
  • Page 31  Deleting a file Swipe the item to the left to delete the added firmware file from [ROM List]. When [Delete] is displayed, tap it.
  • Page 32  Downloading a file Tap the download button to start downloading. If the reading of the ROM file or the creating of download data has failed, an error message will be displayed. When the processing starts, the progress status screen is displayed. When the processing is completed, the completion screen is displayed.

    [BASIC Download] page Be sure to avoid an environment where a power failure may occur in the middle of the downloading. If a power failure occurs during a downloading, retry the operation. Furthermore, in case of the Bluetooth connection, this will be disconnected due to a reboot of the printer after downloading.
  • Page 34  Allocating the memory You can select whether or not to allocate onboard memory for the printer. The [Memory Allocate] check box has been selected as the default. When the check box is selected, the contents of each registration area are cleared because allocation is executed.
  • Page 35 [Memory Allocate] [Bitmap External Character Storage Area] Sets the area size for storing bitmap external characters. Default 2304 kB Options 0 to 3200 kB (in units of 64 kB) [Retain BASIC Area] Sets whether or not to retain the BASIC file storage area by selecting [ON] or [OFF]. ON: The BASIC file storage area is not allocated and the existing data are retained.
  • Page 36  Selecting and adding files You can select and add BASIC files. One BASIC file can be registered in [Main Program] and [System Mode Program] and multiple ones can be registered in [Data File], respectively. [Start Block] Specifies the area of the printer where the main program, system mode program and data files are stored.
  • Page 37  Downloading a file You can download BASIC programs and perform the memory allocation. When the processing starts, the progress status screen is displayed. When the processing is completed, the completion screen is displayed. This function is executed only when the printer is in the online mode and in the idle state. This button is grayed out unless the above settings are properly configured.

    [Self Diagnosis] You can obtain and save printer firmware information and maintenance counter information. [Firmware Info] Printer firmware information is displayed. The information will be updated to the latest data by tapping [Refresh]. [Maintenance Counter Info] The maintenance counter values are displayed. The information will be updated to the latest data by tapping [Refresh].

    [Send File] You can send a specified file to the printer in a binary format. Save the file you want to send to the folder of the selected printer. The extension is “txt” only. (Refer to “iTunes file-sharing” in “3. Preparation” of the Basic Manual.) Then select the file you want to send and tap [Send].

    [Setting] You can change the printer's memory setup and various settings.
  • Page 42  [Memory Allocate] You can allocate the memory. The sum of the memory size for each storage area shall be equal to the total onboard memory size. If they do not match, the printer automatically adjusts the size. Priority: Bitmap External Character > BASIC File > Form > Graphic > PC Save After the allocate command is sent to the printer, this product waits for the end of the memory allocation.
