• Wire length resistance cannot exceed 15 ohms.
• Zero ohms to ground causes a ground fault.
• Wiring methods used shall be in accordance with UL 681.
2.4 Setting the Network Control Switches
In order for PC NFN Gateways to operate on the network, the network control switches must be configured depending on whether the
network uses wire or fiber-optic connections.
2.4.1 Setting NFN-GW-PC-W Switches
Set switches on the NFN-GW-PC-W as follows (see
• Set ground fault detection EF switch to ON (required for UL 864 and CAN/ULC S559 compliance). The NFN-GW-PC-W does
not indicate ground faults; it enables its +24V power supply to detect and indicate ground faults.
• If the NFN-GW-PC-W is at the end of line, activate on-board, end-of-line resistors by setting TERM A switch SW100 and/or
TERM B switch SW102 to ON as necessary.

(P/N 51584). For additional information concerning switch settings and network connections, refer to the Network Communications
