Connecting the Battery

WARNING
Incorrect battery cable routing could damage
the machine and cables, causing sparks.
Sparks can cause the battery gasses to
explode, resulting in personal injury.
Always connect the positive (red) battery
cable before connecting the negative (black)
cable.

Connect the positive cable to the battery and
tighten the battery-clamp nut

Connect the negative cable to the battery and
tighten the battery-clamp nut
Important:
Ensure that the cable-clamp
fasteners do not interfere with the fuel tank.

Removing or Installing the
Battery
A retainer
(Figure
60) holds the battery in the tray.
Loosen the retainer hardware to remove the battery;
tighten it when installing the battery.
Note:
To access the battery, refer to
Battery (page
54). Replace the cover when you install
the battery.
