rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Products that are only sold in AUS and NZ: Use a resid-
u
ual current device (RCD) with a nominal residual current
of 30 mA or less.
Switching On/Off
– To switch on the power tool, press and hold the on/off
switch (1).
– Press the lock-on button (2) to lock the on/off switch (1)
in this position.
– To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch
(1); or, if the switch is locked with the lock-on button (2),
briefly press the on/off switch (1) and then release it.
Check the diamond cutting disc before using it. The
u
diamond cutting disc must be fitted properly and be
able to rotate freely. Carry out a test run for at least
one minute with no load. Do not use diamond cutting
discs that are damaged, run untrue or vibrate during
use. Damaged diamond cutting discs can burst apart and
cause injuries.

Practical Advice

Exercise caution when cutting slots in structural walls;
u
see the "Information on structural design" section.
Do not load the power tool so heavily that it comes to a
u
stop.
If the power tool has been subjected to a heavy load,
u
continue to run it at no-load for several minutes to
cool down the accessory.
Work with cutting depths greater than 20 mm in hard
u
materials, e.g. concrete, over several work opera-
tions, so as not to overload the motor.
Clamp the workpiece if it is not secure under its own
u
weight.
The power tool may only be used for dry cutting.
u
Diamond cutting discs become very hot while work-
u
ing; do not touch them until they have cooled.
Protect the cutting disc against impact, shock and grease.
Do not subject the cutting disc to lateral pressure.
Do not attempt to reduce the speed of a diamond cutting
disc coming to a stop by applying pressure from the side.
For cutting especially hard material, e.g., concrete with high
pebble content, the diamond cutting disc can overheat and
become damaged as a result. This is clearly indicated by cir-
cular sparking, rotating with the diamond cutting disc.
If this happens, stop cutting and allow the diamond cutting
disc to cool down by running the power tool for a short time
at maximum speed with no load.
The cutting discs sharpen themselves. A noticeably de-
u
creasing work rate and sparking all around the rim of the
disc are indications of a cutting disc that has become
blunt. In this case, sharpen the cutting disc by making
short cuts in abrasive material (e.g. sandstone). Sporadic
sparking is normal when working on stone and is there-
fore not a problem.
Bosch Power Tools
Cutting Direction (see figure C)
The power tool must always work in an up-grinding motion.
Otherwise there is a risk that it will be pushed uncontrolled
out of the cut.
Information on Structural Design
Slots in load-bearing walls are subject to DIN 1053 part 1 or
country-specific regulations. These regulations must be ob-
served under all circumstances. Seek advice from the re-
sponsible structural engineer, architect or construction su-
pervisor before starting work.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep
u
the power tool and the ventilation slots clean.
In order to avoid safety hazards, if the power supply cord
needs to be replaced, this must be done by Bosch or by an
after-sales service centre that is authorised to repair Bosch
power tools.
Store and handle the accessories carefully.
Replacing the carbon brushes (see figure D)
Check the length of the carbon brushes around every 2–3
months and replace both carbon brushes if required.
Never replace only a single carbon brush.
Note: Only use carbon brushes supplied by Bosch and inten-
ded specifically for your product.
– Unscrew the caps (17) using a suitable screwdriver.
– Replace the spring-loaded carbon brushes (18) and
screw on the caps again.
