Step 1 Turn the Camera On
Turning the Camera On and Off
• When tile cameraisturned on, tile power-on lamp (green)lights, andtile
monitor is turned on (the power-on lampturns offwhen the monitor is turned
on).
• To turn offthe camera, press the power switch. Both the monitor and the
power-on lamp are turned off.
• Hold down the [] (playback) button to turn on the camera in playback mode.

If no operations are per_rmed for a while, the monitor will be turned off, the camera will enter
standby mode, and the power on lamp will blink. If no operations are performed for another three
minutes, the camera will turn off automatically.
While the camera is in standby mode, the monitor is turned on again when any of the following
buttons is pressed.
Power switch, shutter release button, I_1 (shooting mode) button, [] (playback) button, or

• The time that elapses before the ca mera enters standby mode can be changed using the Auto off
setting in the setup menu (_94).
• In the default setting, the camera enters standby mode in about five minutes when you are using
shooting mode or playback mode.
• if you are using the optional AC Adapter EH 62F, the camera enters standby mode after
30 minutes.
