CAUTION: Use care when using scissors to avoid personal injury. The use of safety gloves
and safety glasses is recommended.
WARNING: Laser light can damage your eyes. Laser light is invisible. Viewing it directly
does not cause pain. The iris of the eye will not close involuntarily as when viewing a
bright light. Consequently, serious damage to the retina of the eye is possible. NEVER
LOOK INTO A FIBER WHICH MAY HAVE A LASER COUPLED TO IT.
Should accidental eye exposure to laser light be suspected, arrange for an eye
examination immediately.

General

This procedure describes a general method for the ClearCurve Drop Cable Pulling Grip Kit
(TKT-CCPG) and its use with both ClearCurve Rugged Drop cable assemblies and ClearCurve
Compact Drop cable assemblies. This pulling grip kit is for use only with the ClearCurve Drop
cable assembly and not a regular single fiber cable assembly. ClearCurve Drop cable construction
is different than regular jumper cable construction and allows for the use of this pulling grip kit.
As with any fiber optic cable installation, proper planning is of paramount importance. Fiber optic
cable installers must always follow the four basic cable placement considerations. First, ensure
there is sufficient slack in the system. Second, monitor the tension and be sure when using the
pulling grip kit to install ClearCurve assemblies to not exceed 50 lbs of tension. Third, do not
exceed the bend radius and refer to the specification sheet or contact Corning Cable Systems for
the minimum bend radius. Last, protect exposed cable using the proper housing and strain relief
for the cable.
