Warning
Things inside the vehicle can strike
and injure people in a sudden stop or
turn, or in a crash.
Put things in the cargo area of the
vehicle. In the cargo area, put
them as far forward as possible.
Try to spread the weight evenly.
Never stack heavier things, like
suitcases, inside the vehicle so
that some of them are above the
tops of the seats.
Do not leave an unsecured child
restraint in the vehicle.
Secure loose items in the vehicle.
Do not leave a seat folded down
unless needed.

Starting and Operating

New Vehicle Break-In

Do not brake unnecessarily hard for the first
few journeys.
During the first drive, smoke may occur
because of wax and oil evaporating off the
exhaust system. Park the vehicle in the open
for a while after the first drive and avoid
inhaling the fumes.
Fuel and engine oil consumption may be
higher during the break-in period.

Ignition Positions

0 : Ignition off: Some functions remain
active until key is removed or driver's door
is opened, if ignition was on previously.
1 : Accessory power mode: Steering wheel
lock released, some electrical functions are
operable, ignition is off.
Driving and Operating
2 : Ignition power mode: Ignition is on.
Control indicators illuminate and most
electrical functions are operable.
3 : Engine start Release key after starting
procedure begins
Danger
Do not turn the key to 0 or 1 position
while driving.
Driver could lose control of vehicle, the
brake and steering assistance systems
would not operate and disable the
airbags, may cause vehicle damage,
personal injury or possibly death.
Caution
Do not leave the key in the 1 or 2
position for extended periods while the
engine is not running.
This will discharge the battery.
Steering wheel lock
Remove key from the ignition switch and
turn steering wheel until it engages.
