IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

The safety of electrical appliances from FIRST Austria complies with the recognized
technical directives and legal regulations for safety. Nevertheless, you and the other
users of the appliance should observe the following:
• Please read these instructions carefully before using this appliance for the first
time and keep them for further reference.
• Only connect appliance to alternate current power supply with voltage as specified
on nameplate (grounding outlet).
• For use place the appliance on a clear, flat and heat-resistant surface. Distance
from the wall should be at least 5cm. The area above the appliance should be
kept free to allow an unobstructed air-circulation. Never place the appliance or
supply cable on hot surfaces. Nor should the appliance be placed or operated in
the vicinity of exposed gas flames.
• Make sure that there is no contact between the supply cable and hot parts of the
appliance.
• The appliance becomes hot during operation. Therefore be careful not to touch
any of the hot parts.
• Over-heated fats and oils can ignite. Food prepared with oils and fats (e.g. french
fries) should therefore always be prepared under supervision.
• As long as the appliance is hot – even when not connected to the mains – it
should be under supervision. Nor should it be under supervision. Nor should it be
transported with a saucepan on the hot-plate – danger of burning oneself. Allow
the appliance to cool down fully before cleaning and storing away.
• The plug should be pulled: after use, before cleaning and in the event of
malfunctioning.
• Never dip the appliance into water. Also protect cable against moisture.
• Children do not realize the dangers which can arise when working with electrical
appliances. Therefore they should only be allowed to use electrical appliances
only under supervision. Special care should be taken in the presence of children.
• Do not pull at the mains cable for disconnecting appliance from the mains supply.
• If the appliance or the mains cable show any visible signs of damage they should
be examined by trained personnel or by customer service as special equipment
is required in this case.
• We are excluded of liability for all damages that may arise if the device is used for
purposes other than originally intended or if it is used inappropriately.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
APPLIANCE DESCRIPTION – FA-5082-2
• The appliance features a regulatable hot-plate with a heating surface of 180mm
dia. and a wattage of 2000 watts. The hot plate is connected to a thermostat and
an indicator lamp.
• The indicator lamp lights up when the hot-plate is switched on.
• The temperature of the hot-plate can be infinitely adjusted by the thermostat up
to max. 500°C.

• The appliance features two regulatable hot-plates.
a) The left hot-plate with a heating surface of 180mm dia. and a wattage of
1500 watts.
b) The right hot-plate with a heating surface of 150mm dia. and a wattage of
1000W.
c) Total power consumtion: 2500 watts.
• Each hot-plates is connected to a thermostat and an indicator lamp.
• The indicator lamp lights up when the appropriate hot-plate is switched on.
• The temperature of the hot-plate can be infinitely adjusted by the thermostat up
to max. 500°C.
In order to remove the invisible protective foil from the hot-plate, you must heat up
the hot-plate without a saucepan on it for about five minutes at max. heat. You need
not be worried about the slight development of fumes and smoke. While heating up
for the first time air the room thoroughly.
Cooking utensils: principally you should only use saucepans and frying-pans
designed for electric cookers with an appropriate diameter. If the surfaces of the
pans are uneven ot too small proper functioning cannot be guaranteed and energy
is wasted.
HOW TO USE THE AUTOMATIC CONTROL
The incorporated control regulates the temperature of the hot plate by switching it on
and off within short intervals.
Adhere to the following approximate values for achieving the desired temperature:
• keeping warm and warming up: stages 1 and 2
• steaming, stewing, boiling:
stages 3 and 4
• frying, roasting:
stages 5 and 6
The automatic hot-plate has the following advantages over conventional hot-plates:
it can be heated up with maximum energy and keeps the desired temperature with
minimum energy without being readjusted. Furthermore, overheating of the hot-plate
can thus be prevented.
CLEANING
Wipe the surface of the hot-plate when cold with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasives.
Do not dip the appliance into water.
FOR THE SAKE OF CLEAN ENVIRONMENT
Do not simply throw the packaging material or old appliances away, but hand
them in to recycling services. Ask your local authorities or the appropriate local
agency for further details concerning recycling.
