" Making Calls
Hands-free Digital Duplex Speakerphone
≥For best speaker performance, use in a quiet room and talk alternately with
the caller.
≥If the other party has difficulty hearing you, press (›) to decrease the
speaker volume. Decreasing the speaker volume will increase the
microphone sensitivity.
≥You can switch to the handset by lifting it up. To switch back to the
speakerphone, press (DIGITAL–SP-PHONE).
To adjust the handset volume (3 levels) or speaker
volume (8 levels) while talking

≥The display shows the volume level for a few
seconds.
To put a call on hold
(HOLD)
Press
≥"Line on HOLD." is displayed on the
cordless handset.
≥The DIGITAL SP-PHONE indicator flashes.
≥If using the handset, you can place it on the cradle.
≥If you put a call on hold for more than 6 minutes, an
alarm tone will sound. The call will be disconnected
after a total of 10 minutes.
≥To transfer the call to the cordless handset, see page 55.
To release the hold
From the base unit:
—when using the speakerphone, press
handset.
—when using the handset, press
From the cordless handset, press
≥If another phone is connected on the same line (p. 78), you can also release the
hold by lifting its handset.
Backlit LCD display
The lighted base unit display will stay after lifting the handset or pressing
(DIGITAL–SP-PHONE).
