To perform a Dial-in network HotSync operation:
1. Turn on your computer and make sure it is connected to
your network.
2. Start the HotSync Manager.
3. Confirm that the Network item in the HotSync Manager
menu is checked.
4. Connect the Palm III organizer to the PalmPilot Modem, or
connect the special modem cable from the serial connector
on the Palm III organizer to a standard external modem.
Warning: Do not attempt to use other kinds of cables, even
if they appear similar.
5. Attach a standard phone cable (RJ11) from an analog phone
outlet to your modem.
6. If you have a PalmPilot Modem, press the HotSync button
on the PalmPilot Modem to start your Palm III organizer
and after a few seconds the modem begins to dial.
If you have an external modem, continue with the following
steps:
a) Turn on the Palm III organizer.
b) Tap the

icon to open the HotSync screen.
d) Tap the Modem Sync icon to open the Service
Connection Progress dialog.
Note:
When the connection is established, a flashing
vertical bar appears in the upper-right corner of
the Palm III organizer screen, and the HotSync
screen appears while the HotSync operation
takes place.
e) Wait for a message to appear indicating that the
HotSync operation is complete.
