Safety Notes The following safety notes are used throughout this document. Familiarize yourself with each of these notes and its meaning before performing any of the procedures in this document. WARNING Warning denotes a hazard. It calls attention to a procedure which, if not correctly performed or adhered to, could result in injury or loss of life.
Keysight Standards Lab for calibration at the following frequencies: 1, 3, 10, 30, 50, 100, 300 and 1000 MHz. The 478A Option H83 is tested to have a VSWR ≤ 1.05 at the frequency of 50 MHz. The calibration is ISO compliant but does not inlcude 17025 accredited cal.
Power Meters The 478A Option H83 comes with calibration data for 1, 3, 10, 30 ,50, 100, 300, and 1000 MHz from a Standards Calibration Lab, which is traceable to NIST. All other specifications in the 478A Operating and Service Manual, Table 1 apply except where 431 use is referenced in the standard manual.
Mount Calibration Data The calibration factors are essentially the same (within 1%) as the Effective Efficiency for the 478A Option H83 over the 1 MHz to 1000 MHz frequency range. Both vary less than the measurement uncertainties that apply to any calibration data, and typically remain between 98% and 100%.
DC signals to and from the mount (432 type) are suitable for use with the 478A Option H83. Thus, paragraphs 16, 26 through 30, 43, 44, 50, 52, and 53 in the Operating Note, as well as Figures 4 and 5 do not apply.
2. CAL FACTOR: Carefully zero and set the 432A range switch to the 1 mW range on the 478A Option H83. Connect the 478A Option H83 to a precision 1 mW / 50 MHz power reference such as the 435A/B or 436A power meters or the 435A Option K05 dual power reference.
General Information Maintenance Maintenance Follow all precautions for the Model 478A Option H83, as with the standard Model 478A, as outlined in the Operating and Service Manual (00478-90021). The standard 478A Thermistor Mounts THERMISTOR MATCH and REPAIR procedures generally apply to the 478A Option H83.
General Information 478A Option H83 Replaceable Parts Replaceable Parts Make the following changes to the 478A Operating and Service Manual (00478-90021), TABLE 3 “REPLACEABLE PARTS”. When ordering a replacement RF connector or Thermistor Assembly, refer to Table 4 Figure 3 below.
