INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing Hitec’s X1 LiPo Balance Charger. This product is a rapid charger with a high performance microprocessor and specialized operating software. Before using the product, please read the entire manual completely and attentively as it covers a wide range of information on operation and safety.
SPECIAL FEATURES SPECIAL FEATURES Optimized operating software The X1 "auto" feature sets the charge and discharge current for you automatically, preventing overcharging which can damage your battery. In the event of an error, the X1 instantly disconnects the circuit and sounds an alarm once. This feature can be set by the user and controlled through the two-way link for maximum safety and minimizes these type of problems.

Protect your battery by setting a maximum time limit for charging and discharging. Input power monitoring The X1's input voltage is monitored to protect the battery from becoming damaged. The process ends automatically if it drops below the limit. Data store/load A maximum of five setting profiles can be stored for your convenience.
LITHIUM POLYMER BALANCE CHARGE PROGRAM CONNECTION DIAGRAM LITHIUM POLYMER BALANCE CHARGE PROGRAM CONNECTION DIAGRAM This diagram shows the correct way to connect your battery to the charger while charging in the balance charge program mode only. WARNING: Failure to connect as shown in this diagram will damage this charger.
WARNING AND SAFETY NOTES WARNING AND SAFETY NOTES These warning and safety notes are particularly important. Please follow the instructions for maximum safety; otherwise the charger and the battery can be damaged or even worse, cause a fire. Never leave the charger unattended when it is connected to its power supply.

WARNING AND SAFETY NOTES Have you checked that all connections are firm and secure? Make sure there are no intermittent contacts at any point in the circuit. Charging During the charging process, a specific quantity of electrical energy is fed into the battery. The charge quantity is calculated by multiplying charge current by charge time.
Page 11
WARNING AND SAFETY NOTES Please note that Lithium battery packs can be wired in parallel and in series. In the parallel connection, the battery’s capacity is calculated by multiplying the single battery’s capacity by the number of cells with total voltage remaining the same. The voltage’s imbalance may cause a fire or explosion.
If it is different from the correct setting, the battery may explode during charge process. The X1 recognizes the cell count of the Lithium battery automatically at the beginning of the charge LiPo/LiIo/LiFe...
Page 14
INITIAL PARAMETER SETUP (USER’S SET-UP) recognizes the cell count incorrectly at the beginning of the charge or discharge process, you may extend the time. Otherwise, you should use the default value. This shows the cutoff voltage for the automatic NIMH Sensitivity charge termination of a NiMH and NiCd battery.
Page 15
INITIAL PARAMETER SET-UP (USER'S SET-UP) When the charge process starts, the integrated safety timer starts to run simultaneously. If an error occurs or the termination circuit cannot Safety time detect whether the battery is fully charged or not, 120min the unit is programmed to prevent overcharging and will terminate the charge process.
LITHIUM (LIPO/LILON/LIFE) PROGRAM LITHIUM (LIPO/LILON/LIFE) PROGRAM This program is only suitable for charging/discharging Lithium (LiPo/LiIon/LiFe) batteries with a nominal voltage of 3.3/3.6/3.7V/cell. The final voltage is very important; it should precisely match the voltage of the battery: LiPo is 4.2V, LiIon is 4.1V and LiFe is 3.6V. The current and voltage of the battery should be correctly set.
CHARGING LITHIUM BATTERY IN THE CHARGE MODE CHARGING LITHIUM BATTERY IN THE CHARGE MODE This charging mode is for charging Li-Po/Ion/Fe batteries without a balance lead. BALANCE CHARGING OF LITHIUM BATTERY The left side of the first line shows the type of LiPo BALANCE battery chosen.
FAST CHARGING OF LITHIUM BATTERY FAST CHARGING OF LITHIUM BATTERY The left side of the first line shows the type of LiPo FAST CHG battery chosen. The setting on the left of the 2.0A 11.1V(3S) second line is the current set by the user. After setting the current and voltage, press the START/ENTER key for more than 3 seconds to start the process...
STORAGE CONTROL OF LITHIUM BATTERY STORAGE CONTROL OF LITHIUM BATTERY At this screen, you can set up the current LiPo STORAGE and voltage of the battery pack. Charging 1.0A 11.1V(3S) and discharging will bring the batteries to the voltage level of for storage. Batt type Start ‘>3 seconds’...
The processor monitors the voltage of each cell when the battery packs are in the “storage” and “discharging” process. If the voltage of any cell is abnormal, the X1 will show an error message and forcibly terminate the program. So if there is battery damage or a disconnection, you can see the error message and press INC to know which cell is damaged.
CHARGING OF NICD/NIMH BATTERY CHARGING OF NICD/NIMH BATTERY This program is for charging NiCd/NiMH NIMH CHARGE Aut batteries associated with R/C model applications. LIMIT 5.0A Pressing the START/ENTER key to modify the menu and then INC or DEC to change the parameter settings.
CHARGE/DISCHARGE AND DISCHARGE/CHARGE CYCLE OF NICD/NIMH BATTERY CHARGE/DISCHARGE AND DISCHARGE/CHARGE CYCLE OF NICD/NIMH BATTERY You can set the cycle sequence on the left NIMH CYCLE and the number of cycles on the right. DCHG>CHG The battery can be cycled 1-5 cycles. Batt type Start ‘>3 seconds’...
CHARGING PB (LEAD-ACID) BATTERY IN THE CHARGE MODE CHARGING PB (LEAD-ACID) BATTERY IN THE CHARGE MODE This program is only suitable for charging a Pb (lead-acid) battery with nominal voltage from 2 to 20V. A Pb (lead-acid) battery is completely different from NiCd/NiMH batteries.
DISCHARGING OF THE PB BATTERY DATA STORAGE PROGRAM For your convenience, the X1 has a data storage and load program. It can store five battery data representing the respective charge and discharge specifications for each battery. You can call back the data when charging or discharging without setting up the program over again.
LOAD DATA PROGRAM LOAD DATA PROGRAM This program is to load the data stored at the “save data” program. Press the START/ENTER key to make the data field blink and press the INC or DEC for more than 3 seconds to load the data. PROGRAM SELECT LOAD DATA...
VARIOUS INFORMATION IN THE PROGRAM VARIOUS INFORMATION IN THE PROGRAM You can view various information on the LCD screen during the charging and discharging process. Pressing the DEC key will display these settings. You can press the INC key to monitor the voltage of each cell while the battery is connected to each port of the charger.
WARNING AND ERROR MESSAGE WARNING AND ERROR MESSAGE The X1 incorporates a variety of functions for the systems to verify processes and the state of the electronics. In case of an error, the screen will display the cause of the error and emit an audible alarm.
This warranty is not valid for any damage or subsequent damage arising as a result of misuse, modification or as a result of failure to observe the procedures outlined in this manual. SPECIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. Manufactured by Hitec RCD www.hitecrcd.com - 27 -...
