Installing a cooling fan

Prerequisites
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in

Remove the
sled.
Steps
1. Pull the blue latch on the side of the fan module and lift the fan handle.
2. Lower the fan module into the cage until it is seated firmly.
NOTE:
If the airflow directional arrow is indicating outward on the fan, this indicates Reverse-Air-Flow (RAF). If the
airflow directional arrow is indicating inward on the fan, this indicates Normal-Air-Flow (NAF).
3. Route the fan cables properly through the fan guard and connect the cable to the slot on the system board.
NOTE:
Fan 1, 2, and 3 are connected on the 1U sled system board.
4. Pull the blue latch on the side of the fan module and lift the fan handle
5. Lower the fan module into the cage until it is seated firmly.
NOTE:
If the airflow directional arrow is indicating outward on the fan, it indicates Reverse air-flow (RAF). If the airflow
directional arrow is indicating inward on the fan, it indicates Natural air-flow (NAF).
6. Pull down the fan handle and push to engage the guiding pin until it clicks into place.
