Advanced Icemaker Troubleshooting

This bulletin applies to bottom-mount models and single-door freezers
EXCEPT the F 1471 dispenser model. Please see the service manual to
understand the slight differences in the wiring plan.
The purpose of this bulletin is to illustrate how to narrow down the cause of a
'no ice' complaint. Specifically, these methods will rule out external
components as the cause. The overall health of the freezer should be
validated before executing these procedures; i.e. temperature, water supply,
air flow, etc. The parameters of these values can be found in a previous ice
bulletin.
Recently, some technical representatives have been under the impression
that the division plate (control electronic) should be replaced in the case of a
'no ice' complaint. Nothing could be further from the truth. The only
reason we are routinely replacing control electronics is to remedy/prevent the
touch controls from locking up. Any software ID 16XX or lower should be
replaced for this reason. Here are the pinouts for the icemaker socket:
The photo above represents the icemaker socket for an F 1471 freezer.
The F 1471 has a second plug/socket for the dispenser functions. Do
not confuse the two. In other single-door units or bottom-mounts this
socket may be inverted. In any case, the relationship between the pins
and the Molex locking clip is the same. Use the position of this clip
(shown here on the right side of the socket) and the green ground wire
to orient yourself.
