2. Loading batteries
Batteries in this remote control unit have a life of approximately 1 year
under normal operating conditions. If the remote control unit is not
going to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries.
Also, if you notice that the batteries are starting to run down, replace
them as soon as possible.

The battery life is about 1 year under normal use.
The life is variable depending on the operating condition. If the unit is
not to be used for a long period of time, be sure to take out the battery
from the unit.
The RC2020CR Remote control is capable of controlling Marantz
system components equipped with the D-Bus or AL-Bus jacks, such as
a MD Deck and tape deck as well as this unit. Refer to "Connection of
D-BUS Remote Control Bus" on page 5 or to "System Connection
through AL-Bus" on page 5 and make the appropriate connections
before proceeding to system control operation.
An example procedure for system operation is described below. Here,
the case in which a TAPE Deck is connected to this unit through the AL-
Bus is taken as an example.
Press the POWER switch z to turn the power of this unit ON.

mode.

power of the tape deck connected through the bus system

Pressing the DOOR button , of the remote control opens or closes
the doors of the components in the system.

When the tape deck is operated, the system switches over
automatically to the component which is playing.

The system can be connected very easily with a small number of

PLAYING A PROGRAMME SOURCE
Normal play

Set the VOLUME control @5 / n to the minimum position.

To record sound onto a tape or MD:
Use the following procedure when recording, for example, CD onto a
cassette tape or MD.
Press the function button x of the source to be recorded. In this

Operate the CD player.

Operate the tape deck to record the CD onto a cassette tape.
The recorded sound will be the same as that reproduced through
the speakers.
