6-21. IGNITION MODULES

May 2012
During normal operation, the ignition modules send 24 volts to the
ignitors and gas control valve. If a module does not sense a pilot
flame, the module starts the ignition process again. But, if a pi-
lot light goes out for longer that 15 seconds, or it goes out 3 times
within 15 seconds, the module keeps the 24 volts from reaching the
gas control valve. The burners shut down.
Replacement:
To avoid electrical shock or property damage, move the
power switch to OFF and disconnect main circuit
breaker, or unplug cord at wall receptacle.
1. Open the left door and using a Phillip's-Head screwdriver,
remove the screws securing the module cover and remove
cover.
2. Label and pull the wires from the module.
3. Using a 3/8" socket or nut driver remove the nuts securing the
module and remove module from unit.
4. Install new module in reverse order and restore power to the unit.
