Installing the HPE Smart Array P542D Controller module

CAUTION: Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends performing a complete backup of all
server data before performing a controller or adapter installation or removal.
To install the component:
Back up all server data.
1.
Power down the server.
2.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server front panel.
3.
Remove the server from the chassis.
4.
Place the server on a sturdy, level surface.
5.
Remove the access panel.
6.
Remove the air baffle.
7.
Disconnect all cables from the drive backplane.
8.
Remove the drive cage assembly.
9.
Connect the Mini-SAS cables to the storage controller. Install the cables according to their labels as

Port 3 or Port 4. The labels are on both the cables and their connections.
Install the HPE Smart Array P542D Controller module:

Slide the module into the PCIe slot.
