Turn the steering wheel in such a way
that yellow guide lines for cornering 2
appear within the space where you
wish to park.
If nothing projects across the yellow
guide lines or is between the yellow
lines, this means that the space in
which you wish to park is wide enough.
As soon as blue guide line 1 for re-
versing in a straight line is parallel to
the space in which you wish to park,
turn the steering wheel to the straight
ahead position.
Parallel parking

This auxiliary function assists you when
you wish to park in a line, e.g. in a parking
space parallel to the road.
Stop parallel to and approximately 1 m
from the vehicle in front of the parking
space.
Stop in such a way that the front of the
parked vehicle is on a level with your
rear wheel.
Engage reverse gear.
Make sure that the function for parallel
parking is selected in COMAND.

1 Vertical guide line
Back up carefully, parallel to the vehi-
cle parked next to you until vertical
guide line 1 is at the end of the parked
vehicle.
Stop the vehicle.

Risk of accident
If the vertical guide lines are not yet at the
end of the parked vehicle and you begin to
turn the steering wheel, you could collide
with the parked vehicle.

With the vehicle stationary, turn the
steering wheel in the direction you wish
to park in, until extension guide line 2
intersects vertical guide line 1.
