ENTER A VALUE in the appropriated box, press the SET button immediately right of the value and then
press the RESET MONO button after each adjustment. Repeat the test as outlined in Step 4 to determine the
detent position. Note that this procedure might required multiple iterations before the detent is properly
adjusted.
Grating Installation and Alignment
1) With the Monochromator on a clean solid bench with sufficient space, place the helium neon laser at the entrance
slit.
2) Remove the screws from the cover on the SCT-320 grating access port, and remove the cover.
CAUTION: THE OPTICS ARE NOW EXPOSED, DO NOT TOUCH, TALK, OR BREATHE ON THE
OPTICAL SURFACES. PERMANENT DAMAGE WILL BE CAUSED TO THE OPTICAL SURFACES
BY MECHANICAL CONTACT WITH ANYTHING.
3) From the Monochromator Control Software, select the OPERATIONS Button.
4) From the Operations Window, select the grating you want to install, and verify that the correct turret is selected.
Most systems only have one turret, so turret 1 should be selected. If you have multiple turrets, make sure the
correct turret is selected.
5) Enter 0.0 in the wavelength box and click the GOTO Button.
6) Refer to Figures 1 and 2, and carefully place the alignment posts in positions 1 and 2.
