3.6 Installation

CAUTION!
It is essential that you comply with the local health and safety
regulations in force for installing flange connections.
CAUTION!
Fitters for flange connections in countries in which the Pressure
Equipment Directive applies must have an appropriate
qualification (e.g. under EN 1591-4).
CAUTION!
We recommend fitting a cone strainer with a mesh size of 250 µ m
to protect the meter. When installing the meter in a vertical
position, with the direction of flow from bottom to top, a strainer
must be fitted to both the meter inlet and outlet (to protect against
falling dirt).
Remove the cone strainer again after around 4 – 6 weeks since it
may be saturated after this time and therefore will inhibit the flow.
Install the rotary gas meter with the same alignment as the pipe axis.
The surfaces of the pipe and meter flanges must be parallel to each
other.
During the installation process, check the flow direction shown on the
index or meter housing.
Fit the seals concentrically between the flanges and ensure that they do
not project into the flow channel.
The impeller axes must be horizontal (we recommend that you check
them using a spirit level).
Ensure that the meter is aligned without any tension.
Secure the meter using the screws set out in Table 3.
Install the supplied accessories.
We recommend that the meter is installed at a site protected from the
weather or that suitable protection is installed.
