Testing
Testing with Windows 95, 98 and NT 4.0
1. Start up Windows. Click on Start, followed by
Programs, Accessories, and finally, Hyperterminal.
Double-click on the HyperTrm icon.
2. Enter a name for the new connection you're about to
establish (you normally give each connection its own
name, like "test"), choose an icon for it, and click OK.
3. Enter the phone number that you want to dial. To test
your 56K LANmodem, try dialing the Linksys Bulletin
Board System at (949) 261-2888.
4. Pick the 56K LANmodem from in the Connect
using: box. When you're done, click OK, followed by
the Dial button.
Hyperterminal will pick up the phone line, dial Linksys,
and attach to the BBS. Follow the instructions that
appear on your computer screen to navigate through the
BBS. When you're ready to hang up, click on Call, fol-
lowed by Disconnect.
If receive TAPI errors in Hyperterminal, your 56K
LANmodem is not properly connected to your PC.
Verify that all of your cabling is working and the evey-
thing is connected properly.
