serial number in the space provided below. Refer to these numbers
whenever you call upon your Sony dealer regarding this product.

This power unit is intended to be correctly orientated in a vertical or
floor mount position.
For connection to a supply not in the U.S.A., use an attachment plug
adapter of the proper configuration for the power outlet.
CAUTION
Do not use this unit in a narrow space such as between a wall and
furniture.
Use the nearby wall outlet (wall socket) when using this unit.
Even when the CHARGE lamp of this unit is off, the power is not
disconnected. If any trouble occurs while this unit is in use, unplug it
from the wall outlet (wall socket) to disconnect the power.
The set is not disconnected from the AC power source (mains) as long
as it is connected to the wall outlet (wall socket), even if the set itself has
been turned off.
Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the
like.

Contents of the recording cannot be compensated if recording or
playback is not made due to a malfunction of this unit.
Where not to place this unit
Do not place this unit in any of the following locations, whether it is in
use or in storage. Doing so may lead to a malfunction.
In direct sunlight such as on dashboards or near heating apparatus, as
this unit may become deformed or malfunction
Where there is excessive vibration
Where there is strong electromagnetism or radiant rays
Where there is excessive sand
In locations such as the seashore and other sandy areas or where dust
clouds occur, protect this unit from sand and dust. There is a risk of
malfunction.
Precautions on Use
Connect this unit to an available wall outlet (wall socket). Even when
the CHARGE lamp of this unit is off, the power is not disconnected.
If any trouble occurs while this unit is in use, unplug it from the wall
outlet (wall socket) to disconnect the power.
Do not use this unit in a narrow space such as between a wall and
furniture.
Attach the battery pack firmly to this unit when charging the battery
pack.
The battery terminal may be damaged if the battery pack is not attached
correctly.
To protect the battery pack, remove it from this unit when charging is
completed.
Do not drop or apply mechanical shock to this unit.
Keep this unit away from TVs or AM receivers.
Noise from this unit may enter a TV or radio if placed nearby.
Unplug this unit from the wall outlet (wall socket) after use.
Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of
this unit. If it does, a short may occur and this unit may be damaged.
The battery pack and this unit can become warm during or
immediately after recharging.
The USB connector of this unit is for output only. Do not connect it to
the USB port of a computer, etc. Doing so may cause a malfunction.
Some USB rechargeable devices cannot be used with this unit. Also,
some devices may not be operable while recharging. Check the charging
specifications in the instruction manual of your device.
When you use the USB connector of this unit, attach a battery pack to
the connected device. Not doing so may cause data loss from the device
or damage due to the device crashing.
Be warned that some devices may suddenly lose their input memory
regardless of whether they are used with the USB connector of this unit.
(For details, refer to the instruction manual supplied with your device.)
Always back up the input memory beforehand. Sony is not liable for
any loss of input memory when using this unit.
Make sure before using this unit that its current and voltage match
those of the outlet.
Depending on the conditions of use of this unit's USB connector, this
unit may automatically shut down for safety reasons if the input current
is too high.
Sony does not guarantee operation of this unit if you use it with a USB
hub or USB extension cable. Always follow the designated connecting
method of the USB cable supplied with your device.
When not using this unit, disconnect the USB cable from its USB
connector and store it.
Maintenance
If this unit gets dirty, wipe it using a soft dry cloth.
If this unit gets very dirty, wipe it using a cloth with a little neutral
solvent added, and then wipe it dry.
Do not use thinners, benzine, alcohol, etc., as they will damage the
surface of this unit.
When you use a chemical cleaning cloth, refer to its instruction manual.
Using a volatile solvent such as an insecticide or keeping this unit
in contact with a rubber or vinyl product for a long time may cause
deterioration or damage to this unit.

The BC-QM1 Battery Charger can be used as follows.
This unit can charge or power Sony devices (video cameras etc.) using a
USB cable compatible with your device. (USB AC adaptor function)
This unit can be used as a charger for Sony "InfoLITHIUM" battery
packs (V series/H series/P series/W series/M series). (Battery charger
function)
Operation mode of this unit
The USB AC adaptor function and battery charger function can be used
at the same time. (Simultaneous charge mode)
You can make this unit charge a battery pack quicker than usual by
pressing the quick charge button. (Quick charge mode)

To Charge the Battery Pack
The battery pack is charged by attaching it to this unit.
1 Attach the battery pack.
InfoLITHIUM V/H/P series (See illustration )
InfoLITHIUM M series (See illustration )
 Align the  mark on the battery pack in the direction of the 
mark on this unit and insert it.
 Slide the battery pack in the direction illustrated.
InfoLITHIUM W series (See illustration )
 Align the  mark on the battery pack in the direction of the 
mark on this unit, and bring the battery pack into contact with the
battery terminal (for W series) of this unit.
 Press the battery pack in the direction illustrated until it is flat
inside this unit.
2 Lift the power plug and connect it to a wall outlet (wall
socket).
Always connect the power plug with the prongs at the top. (See
illustration )
Do not connect the power plug with the prongs at the bottom. (See
illustration )
The CHARGE lamp (orange) lights up and charging begins.

The CHARGE lamp goes out when the battery pack is about 90 %

Remove the battery pack by sliding it in the opposite direction to when
you attached it.

Lift the battery pack up and remove it.

indicator lamp.

The charging time may differ depending on the condition of the battery
pack or the ambient temperature.
The times shown are for charging an empty battery pack which has
been run down with a device, using this unit at an ambient temperature
of 25 °C (77 °F).
Charging temperature
The temperature range for charging is 0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to 104 °F).
For maximum battery efficiency, the recommended temperature
range when charging is 10 °C to 30 °C (50 °F to 86 °F).
Notes
If the CHARGE lamp does not light up, check if the battery pack is
firmly attached to this unit.
When a fully charged battery pack is installed, the CHARGE lamp
lights up once and then goes out.
A battery pack that has not been used for a long time may take longer
than usual to charge.

1 Connect your device to this unit.
2 Lift the power plug up and connect it to a wall outlet (wall
socket).
Powering starts automatically.
Powering does not start if the quick charge button is lit. Press the
quick charge button to turn it off before using this unit.
3 After the device is completely recharged, unplug this unit
and disconnect the device from this unit.
Notes
A USB cable is not supplied with this unit. Prepare a USB cable
compatible with your device.
You may need to perform some operation on your device to use the
USB AC adaptor function of this unit. The operation and specifications
differ depending on your device model. For details, refer to the
instruction manuals of your device.

During battery pack charging, press the quick charge button to charge in
a shorter time.
The quick charge button lights up orange during quick charge mode.
Notes
"Simultaneous charge mode" and "Quick charge mode" cannot be used
at the same time.
When quick charge is started, powering to a device connected via USB
cable stops.
Always check the status of your device before use.
When quick charge is completed, powering to the device connected via
USB cable restarts.
This unit will not switch to quick charge mode if no battery pack is
attached. Always attach a battery pack to this unit before operating the
quick charge button.

Troubleshooting
When the CHARGE lamp blinks, check through the following chart.
The CHARGE lamp blinks in two ways.
Blinks slowly: Turns on and off repeatedly every 1.5 seconds
Blinks quickly: Turns on and off repeatedly every 0.15 seconds
The action to be taken depends on the way the CHARGE lamp blinks.
When the CHARGE lamp keeps blinking slowly
Charging is pausing. This unit is in the standby state.
If the room temperature is out of the appropriate temperature range,
charging stops automatically.
When the room temperature returns to the appropriate range, the
CHARGE lamp lights up and charging restarts.
We recommend charging the battery pack at 10 °C to 30 °C (50 °F to
86 °F).
When the CHARGE lamp keeps blinking quickly
When charging the battery pack for the first time in one of the
following situations, the CHARGE lamp may blink quickly.
If this happens, remove the battery pack from this unit, reattach it and
charge it again.
 When the battery pack is left for a long time
 When the battery pack is left installed in the camera for a long time
 Immediately after purchase
If the CHARGE lamp keeps blinking quickly, check through the following
chart.

Remove the battery pack that is being charged and then firmly attach the same
CHARGE lamp
