    Be sure to match the USB symbol on the cable to the USB symbol on the printer. Plug one end of the printer power cord into the socket at the back of the printer and the other end into a properly grounded outlet.

    USB only UNIX/Linux USB or Parallel * If you attach a USB printer cable while your printer and computer are turned on, the Windows hardware wizard launches immediately. Find the instructions for your operating system and use them to answer the plug and play screens.

Browse to the location of the printer driver on the drivers CD: D:\Drivers\Win_2000\ Click Open, and then click OK. Click Next to install the driver that is displayed. It is okay to disregard the message that the driver is not digitally signed.

    Color quality guide This Color Quality guide is intended to help users understand how operations available on the printer can be used to adjust and customize color output. A brief description of the purpose and operation of the functions available that affect color output is provided.
  • Page 21 Users can print color Samples samples pages for each of the RGB and CMYK color conversion tables used in the printer. The color samples pages consist of a series of colored boxes along with the RGB or CMYK combination that creates the color observed for each particular box.

    When a user prints a document, information describing the type and color of each object in the document is sent to the printer. The color information is passed through color conversion tables that translate the color into appropriate amounts of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black toner needed to produce the desired color. The object type information lets different color conversion tables be used for different types of objects.
