    Read this manual carefully and read all tags/labels attached to the LNG dispenser or pump before starting any maintenance and/or service. A dispenser or pump not properly maintained will not perform properly and will void the Bennett Limited Warranty. Before installation, operation, maintenance and/or service ensure that protection against lighting strikes are in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice RP 2003, Protection Against Ignitions Arising out of Static, Lightening, and Stray Currents.

    Introduction SECTION 2: INTRODUCTION This manual contains installation instructions for installing the LNG Series dispenser. Included are mechanical, transporting, wiring, and start-up instructions. For any additional installation information on ground storage modules, shear valves, hoses, breakaways, and the Liquid Natural Gas System. Please refer to the manufacturer’s installation instructions for proper installation.

    Relief Tubing shall be a Minimum ½” 316 Stainless Steel Tubing” 316 Stainless Steel Seamless Tubing Instrument Air Tubing shall be a Minimum ¼” 316 Stainless Steel Seamless Tubing  Purge Blower must provide at least 65 CFM to dispenser. Reference Bennett Part Number 120536. CUSTOMER SUPPLIED MA TERIALS CAUTION: USE ONLY UL LISTED RIGID METAL CONDUIT AND UL LISTED SEALING FITTINGS WITH CONDUCTOR SEALS.

    Bennett LNG Series Installation Manual General Installation HOW TO LIFT AND TRAN SPORT THE LNG SERIES Eyebolts for lifting and transporting the dispenser are included with the dispenser. To transport the dispenser, remove the bolts and install the eyebolts. Once transport is complete, re-install the bolts. Note: Refer to Figure 3.1 for the only factory approved method for lifting the LNG Series.

    (i.e. Regular replacement of sensor). The Bennett LNG Dispenser utilizes a combustible gas detection system that consists of an audible and visual alarm as shown in Figure 3.5 and a methane detector as shown in Figure 3.5b. The methane detector detects when methane is present at a lower explosive limit (LEL) 20%.

    Bennett LNG Series Installation Manual General Installation EMERGENCY STOP SWITC H WARNING: To prevent electrical shock, disconnect from power source before installation or service. The emergency stop button (E-STOP) is an emergency shutdown device to terminate power and stop the flow of fuel to the dispenser. A second E-Stop button is optional for Side 2 of the LNG Dispenser.

    Bennett LNG Series Installation Manual Piping Installation HINT The timer board relies on a charged battery for proper operation. If the battery is discharged, the timer will have to be bypassed through the bypass push button on the timer board as shown in Figure 4.9. The switch will have to be held until the battery reaches a suitable charge level.

    Refer to the original equipment manufacturer instructions for detailed installation instructions. See Figure 4.13 below for the Bennett Purge Air Supply box, which uses a Fasco 50752-D500 blower and 10 x 10 x 1 MERV 13 air filter.

    RS-485 wires should be twisted together no less than 3 turns per foot to reduce the effects of electrical noise on the communication circuit. Due to the risk of noise, causing possible problems with communication, Bennett highly recommend the use of twisted wires, but does not require it.
  • Page 30: General Wiring Instructions

    Check with Federal, State, and Local Codes for conduit use in your area. Bennett recommends rigid metal conduit. Do not use PVC conduit. Use only Rigid metal conduit. Using PVC conduit could void the Bennett Limited Warranty. All wiring gauges is minimum required, stranded wire with THHN insulation must be used. Do not use wire smaller than listed on the Bennett wiring diagrams.

    Bennett LNG Series Installation Manual Wiring Installation BEGINNING THE WIRING PROCESS IMPORTANT: Check your dispenser options prior to beginning the wiring process. Locate the inlet wiring electrical conduits. Refer to the dispenser footprint diagram for inlet sizes and locations. This product must be properly grounded. Each dispenser requires a 12-gauge stranded THHN earth ground wire. Refer to the Instructions for Earth Grounding the Equipment section for detailed installation instructions.

    Data communication wires are required for operation of each fueling position with a control console or controller. The data wires can be put in the same conduit as the other pump wiring. Refer to the wiring information for all LNG Series Remote Dispenser with 708 Electronics –...

    CAUTION: The installation of audio and visual alarms must be in accordance with all applicable Local Codes and must be certified for the area. For use with Remote Audio and Visual Alarms. Refer to Wiring and Installation LNG Series 708 CPU –Diagrams for additional information. Note: Audio and Visual Alarms installed and each dispenser shall be provided.

    Bennett LNG Series Installation Manual Wiring Installation INSTALLING THE WIRE SEPARATOR A safe installation requires that a wire separator be installed on the wires as they are routed through the conduit and into the dispenser’s electronic enclosure. The wire separator holds the wires apart to ensure that the seal off compound fully seals around each wire. Apply the potting compound during the last step of installation.
