    Product Introduction CHAPTER 1 PRODUCT INTRODUCTION This manual contains installation instructions for installing the Bennett Hydrogen Series dispenser. Included are mechanical, transporting, wiring, and start-up instructions. For any additional installation information on ground storage modules, shear valves, hoses, breakaways, and the Bulk Hydrogen Compressed Gas System, refer to the appropriate documentation from original equipment manufacturer. The Bennett Hydrogen Dispenser utilizes a gas detection system that is used to detect flammable gas, toxic gas, and oxygen. Emergency Stop System will be activated if the level goes over 50%. Please refer to the Dräger Polytron 8200 Instruction Manual located on your dispenser USB for fault settings, messages, and detailed information.

  • Page 21 There are eyebolts in the unit that need to be installed for transportation. The dispenser arrives with a set of bolts at the top of the end columns as shown in Figure 2.1 below. To transport the dispenser, remove the bolts and install the eyebolts as shown. Once transport is complete, re-install the original bolts.   • Page 26 Electrical wiring and equipment must be in accordance with Article 500 of NFPA Code 70 and Class 1, Division 2, Group B (hydrogen), NFPA Code 2 Hydrogen Technologies Code, state, and local electrical codes. Check with Federal, State, and Local Codes for conduit use in your area. Bennett recommends rigid metal conduit. Do not use PVC conduit. Use only Rigid metal conduit.

    If maximum pressure is greater than 41 MPa (5,950 psi), then pressurize the lines to normal pressure and watch for leaks for five minutes.     DISPENSER FUNCTIONALITY The block diagrams for the Bennett Hydrogen dispenser shown Figure 3.1 provide a high-level view of the hydrogen flow, control system, and user interfaces throughout the fueling process.
  • Page 33 DISPENSER CONTROL SYSTEM The proprietary fueling control system was developed by Bennett to monitor critical process parameters during the fueling process, as specified in SAE J2601, and will either maintain those parameters within the required limits or apply the necessary fail-safe measures should the limits be exceeded.
