TIG OPERATION

Operation
Before starting any welding activity ensure
that you have suitable eye protection and
protective clothing. Also take the necessary
steps to protect any persons within the area.
Plug the earth clamp lead in to the '+' terminal,
and secure the earth clamp to the workpiece.
For good contact, the earth clamp must be
attached to clean bare metal. Clean with a wire
brush where necessary.
Connect a regulator to a bottle of Argon gas
(both not supplied) then connect the gas
connection from the TIG torch to the regulator.
Plug the TIG torch lead to the '-' terminal. Plug

Press the MMA/TIG/MIG switch to TIG mode,
Fig.36.

Connect to the mains supply and press the
On/Off switch (Fig.37) to the ON position (l) to
stop the machine press the On/Off switch to the
OFF position (0).

Ensure the standard/spool gun switch is set to
standard, Fig.38.
Turn on the cylinder gas valve and adjust the
flow regulator to obtain desired flow.

Set the desired amperage on the current control
dial on the front panel of the welder (Fig.39).
Adjust the welding current according to the
thickness of the work piece to be welded (for a
guide to welding parameters, please refer to the
table below.
