DOC-USR-0217-02 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Z3-LEO-1X is a H.265/HEVC, H.264 and MJPEG video encoder. It is capable of accepting HD video from the camera at 60 frames per second and producing IP streams that can be sent on a standard Ethernet cable.
*NOTE: A Kel Cable from Z3 is required to connect your camera. Contact Sales for more information about cables and compatible cameras. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Z3 Technology, LLC ♦ 100 N 8 ST, STE 250 ♦ Lincoln, NE 68508-1369 USA ♦ +1.402.323.0702...
Note: Some GUI images may reference the Z3Cam-4k. Functionality and interface is the same as the Z3-LEO-1x. 5.1 Connecting the KEL Cable If you have received a Z3-LEO-1X assembly, you will need to connect it to an LVDS camera such as the Figure 3 Sony FCB-EV7520A camera block.
Note: The Z3-LEO-1X is set to DHCP by default. If no DHCP server is available on the network, a static IP address of 192.168.0.120 and a netmask of 255.255.0.0 will be assigned. The IP address can be manually entered as the URL in a browser window to access the user interface.
This section gives step-by-step instructions on setting the Z3-LEO-1X to output and stream video using each of the output format options: UDP, RTP, RTSP and RTMP . In addition to the Z3-LEO-1X, a Windows PC with the VLC media player downloaded is required.

The "Low Latency" position will be best for most low latency applications. When streaming UDP or TSRTP, the Z3-LEO-1X supports a low latency mode called TS Lowlat Mode. When enabled, TS Lowlat Mode sends the transport stream packets as soon as possible, instead of pacing them out evenly.
DOC-USR-0217-02 6.6 Stream Multiple Resolutions The Z3-LEO-1X supports simultaneous encode into up to three different resolutions, bitrates and output formats. Each output stream can be set using a separate channel tab. If the CH2 tab is not present, you can create a second channel by clicking on the tab.
DOC-USR-0217-02 6.7 Setting NTP/PTP The Z3-LEO-1X has support for NTP to set the time on the unit. If you require the system time to be set do the following (1) Load the web UI of the unit and switch to the System Setup tab. Click the go button next to Set NTP.
VLC should be version 2.1.3 or newer. 7.0 CAMERA CONTROL The Z3-LEO-1X supports real-time camera adjustments remotely via the user interface. Refer to Section 10.4, “The Camera Tab” for more details on the available options.
(4) Adjust Color Gain and Color Hue using the sliders. System Setup tab and saving that to the preset. 8.3 Encoder ROI The Z3-LEO-1x allows for the encoding of a Region of Interest (ROI) in the captured video. This allows the encode of only the region of the video you are interested in.
Figure 40 Channel 1 Tab with ROI 8.4 Overlay Timestamp The Z3-LEO-1x supports the overlay of a system timestamp on the video stream. This is done via the Text Overlay feature on the encoder tab. (1) Click on the CH1 tab and stop the stream with the Stop button, if necessary.
DOC-USR-0217-02 8.5 Set a Static IP Address The Z3-LEO-1X supports DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). This is enabled by default, allowing the camera to dynamically receive an IP address at startup. The IP address that is assigned can be seen through using ZFinder. If you prefer, you can set your camera to a static IP address. If you would like to have your PC set to a static IP address, you will need to set your camera to a static IP address as well in order for it to be discoverable by ZFinder.
(1) Run the ZFinder PC Utility on your Windows PC. The ZFinder window appears. ZFinder does a scan of the network and lists the location of all Z3 systems connected to the network. The Z3-LEO-1X appears with your manually entered IP address.
8.7 Setting a Password The Z3-LEO-1X provides the option to set a password to limit access to the user interface. Note: To disable the password requirement set the password to blank and click change.
You should see this entry: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 2357:010c If you don’t see this entry the device you are using is not currently supported. Contact Z3 Technology for support options. 8.8.1 Initial Wi-Fi Setup (1) Power down the encoder and plug the Wi-Fi adapter into the USB slot on the application board.
(5) To select the Wi-Fi network to connect to, click on the “Available Networks” dropdown. If you don’t see the network you are looking for click the “Wi-Fi” tab again and go back to the dropdown. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Z3 Technology, LLC ♦ 100 N 8 ST, STE 250 ♦ Lincoln, NE 68508-1369 USA ♦ +1.402.323.0702...

In this section, configuring Wowza Streaming Engine version 4.1.0 is described. To configure Wowza to work with RTMP streaming from the Z3-LEO-1X, the following steps are needed: (1) Log in to the Wowza Streaming Engine Manager Home page by typing http://localhost:8088.
(9) Verify Client Restrictions is set to No client restrictions. (10) Click on Save. Figure 57 Wowza Security Settings The Wowza server is now configured to work with your Z3 Technology product. Note: You can also select Require password authentication under RTMP Publishing. In this case, Authentication on the Encoder tab needs to be enabled and a valid Wowza user name and password need to be entered to successfully access Wowza.
If you do not have camera control software it is quite straight-forward to write your own. Below is a simple example application on how to send VISCA commands from a Windows PC to the Z3-LEO-1X. The following example code connects to the TCP socket of the unit and is capable of sending several VISCA commands to the unit.
