typical multi-storey houses
Ensure that the smoke detector is installed onto the ceiling.
Every hallway should be furnished with a smoke alarm. An
alarm is required at both ends of the hallway if its length
is more than 10 metres. Every loor in the stairway should
be equipped with a smoke alarm.
Mounting fixture and tips for
corridors and small rooms
A smoke alarm should always be installed in the miter
lines of the respective area in L-shaped rooms or corridors.
L-shaped rooms larger than 40 m² are treated as two sep-
arated spaces.
For hallways with a max. width of 3 m, the maximum dis-
tance between two smoke alarms must be 15 m. The dis-
tance from the irst alarm to the front surface of objects
must be a maximum of 7.5 m.
Hallways with a width of more than 3m are to be treated
like rooms when it comes to quantity and arrangement.

Arrange the smoke alarm centrally in rooms and hallways
with a width of 1 m. In this case a minimum wall distance
of 0.50 m cannot be maintained. A distance of 7.5 m to
