ATTENTION! Several smoke alarms must be installed in
a room, if:
– the surface to be monitored is more than 40 m².
– the room is divided by high partition walls or furnishings as
this can hinder the spreading of smoke towards the smoke
alarm.
– the ceiling is divided by beams with a height of more than
20 cm and the surface of the individual ceiling panels is
more than 36 m².
An additional smoke alarm must be itted under platforms or
galleries if the following measurements apply: the surface is
> 16 m², the width is > 2 m and the length is > 2 m (see picture F).
Recommended mounting fixture
for typical, one-story houses
Ensure that the smoke detector is installed onto the ceiling.
Every hallway should be furnished with a smoke alarm. An
alarm is required at both ends of the hallway if its length is
more than 10 metres. If your house has a basement / cellar,
a smoke alarm should be installed on the ceiling of the
basement.
