4-34 Installing Hardware Options
A POST error message (1786) will occur when the system is turned
on if a drive(s) has been replaced while the system is OFF. When this
occurs you will be prompted to:
NOTE: When a drive configured for fault tolerance is replaced, the
replacement drive will automatically begin restoring when it is installed. When
a drive is in the process of being restored, the Online LED will flash green. The
LED will continue to flash until the drive is completely restored.
Installing a Tape Drive or
SCSI CD-ROM
Up to tUp to two full-height or four half-height removable storage devices,
such as tape drives, can be installed in the removable media drive bays. To
cable the device in this area, refer to the Compaq ProLiant 7000 and 6000 SCSI
Cabling Guide or see the procedure below.
1.
If the server is on, place the server in Standby and disconnect the power
cord(s). See Chapter 2, "Server Installation."
2.
Unlock and open the left and right front bezels.
PRESS <F1> TO BOOT THE SYSTEM AND REBUILD THE REPLACED DRIVE , OR
PRESS <F2> TO BOOT THE SYSTEM AND NOT REBUILD THE DRIVE(S).
CAUTION: Pressing F2 will cause permanent data loss to the
entire logical drive. F2 should be pressed only if all of the drives
have been replaced or if complete data loss is desired.
