SOLUTION
1. Find source of short. Trace heater circuit and verify the heater is wired properly.
2. Reduce wattage in circuit. Refer to circuit sizing table for maximum wattage
3. Verify the heater voltage matches the supply voltage.
1. Turn breaker on. Turn thermostat on. Check that the breaker is positioned properly on panel bus-bar. A 2-Pole breaker
must be connected to both bus-bars (A&B phase) to produce 240V power.
2. Tighten wire connections.
3. By-pass the limit to test. If heater works, replace the limit.
1. It is normal for the element to burn off some light fi nishing oil used in the manufacturing process when fi rst energized.
Open windows and allow room to vent until it stops, usually within a few minutes.
2. Remove any dust or dirt accumulation.
1. Sunlight or other heat sources can affect the thermostat. Move the thermostat to another location or remove the heat
source.
2. Remove cover and adjust calibration screw.
1. Replace with a better quality thermostat. Anticipated thermostats are fairly accurate; an electronic thermostat is the best.
should remove oily residue f rom manuf act uring. (Some smoking
may occur).
4. Select t he set t ing f or comf ort on all t hermost at s.
5. A saf et y limit cont rol is provided t o t urn of f t he heat er au-
t omat ically if it is blocked or ot herwise overheat s due t o an
abnormal condit ion-see Figures 4 and 5. DO NOT bypass or re-
move t his saf et y device f rom t he elect rical circuit -see Warning
11 on page 2. During normal use, t his saf et y cont rol should not
operat e. If you
nd t hat t his cont rol is operat ing, make sure t he
heat er is not being blocked. If it cont inues t o cycle t he heat er
of f , disconnect power t o heat er and have it checked and re-
paired by a quali
ed elect rician.
3. To clean heat ing element
part ment covers and t he f ront cover. Using a vacuum cleaner
or compressed air, remove t he dust and lint f rom t he alumi-
num heat ing element
ns while being caref ul not t o damage
t he
ns.
4. The paint ed heat er cabinet may be cleaned using a slight ly
damp clot h. Do not use abrasive cleaners or waxes as t hese may
damage t he
nish or leave a residue t hat will discolor.
5. Replace f ront cover (making sure it is lat ched in place at
each element support bracket and at each end) and t wo wiring
compart ment covers (using t he t wo screws provided), rest ore
power and check heat er f or proper operat ion.
Paint ing
If it becomes necessary t o repaint heat er, use only a qualit y
enamel paint suit able f or met al surf aces f ollowing t he inst ruc-
t ions provided wit h t he paint . DO NOT paint t he heat ing ele-
ment or saf et y limit capillary t ube. Repaint only t he ext erior
of t he cabinet .
