CRANKSHAFT COVER/ CRANKSHAFT/PISTON
CONNECTING ROD BIG END SIDE CLEARANCE

0.1-0.7 mm
(0.004-0.028 in)
CONNECTING ROD BIG END OIL CLEARANCE
1. Clean all oil from the crankpin and connecting rod big end
surfaces.
2. Place a piece of plastigauge on the crankpin, install the
connecting rod and cap, and tighten the bolts to the specified
torque.
TORQUE: 12 N•m (9 ft•lb)
Note:
Do not rotate the crankshaft while the plastigauge is in place.
3. Remove the connecting rod and measure the plastigauge.
Standard
0.040-0.063 mm
(0.0016-0.0025 in)
4. If the clearance exceeds the service limit, replace the
connecting rod and recheck the clearance.
Replacement connecting rods are available with standard and
undersized bearing surfaces.
