PG I (Steel Drum) Labeling and
Shipping
No Parts Required
Procedure
1. Create a shipping label: Write your address and phone
number in the "From" area of a shipping label. Write
the address and phone number for Enerdel (given to
you by your Toro Service Representative) in the "To"
area of the shipping label.
2. Turn the barrel on its side and, using some blocking,
strap it to a pallet (Figure 9).
1. Cargo Aircraft Only decal
2. Hazardous Class
9/UN3480 decal
3. Apply the labels as shown in Figure 9.
4. Your facility must be licensed/trained to handle and
ship Class 9 materials. As such, the shipping paperwork
must be filled out properly, such that the bill of lading
specifically calls out that the box contains a UN3480
Lithium Ion Battery, which is in a Packaging Group I
(PGI) shipping container, and is a Hazardous (Class
9) material.
5.
The pack may not be shipped on any passenger
aircraft. Ground freight and Air Cargo are acceptable
methods of shipping.
Important: A lithium ion battery that has any
damage or is being shipped for disposal/recycling
may NOT be shipped via air transportation. Use
only ground freight in these instances.

DANGER
Failure to properly pack and ship the battery can
result in significant fines, up to $50,000 per instance.
Fines are imposed on a per pack basis, not a per
shipment basis.
