SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 2.1 In General Use standard safety equipment such as: hard hats, safety shoes, safety harnesses, protective clothes, and other safety devices when appropriate. Operate this tool only in accordance with specific operating instructions. WARNING: Do not override the dead-man switch on the power unit.

    TRI TOOL INC. 5. MAINTENANCE Periodic Maintenance BEFORE AND AFTER YOU USE THE EQUIPMENT: 1. Wipe the equipment. 2. Examine the equipment for loose or missing parts and for damage. 3. If the weather is humid, spray the equipment with rust preventative.

Locking down, obstructing, or in any way defeating the deadman switch on the power drive may result in serious injury. DANGER WARNING: LOSS OF POWER SUPPLY: If the power supply is lost during equipment operation, lock out the controls and disconnect the power until the supply is restored.

  • Page 32 TRI TOOL INC. Separate the Clamshell The locking screws are retained in the housing. You cannot remove them. 1. Unbolt the two Locking Screws on the Housing. Refer to Fig. 13. 2. Unbolt the two Locking Screws on the Headstock.
  • Page 33 Use a dial indicator to sweep around the outside diameter of the pipe. 12. Before you do additional centering or squaring, loosen the Adjustable Bars before you move the Clamshell.   • Page 36 Be sure to use gloves when you handle tool bits. CAUTION: Do not use dull tool bits or tool bits that are not made by Tri Tool Inc. If you use these bits the clamshell may perform poorly. This constitutes abuse of the equipment CAUTION and may void the warranty.
  • Page 37 Model 612RBL-G2 thru 642RBL-G2 Clamshells Tighten the Tool Bit Set Screws. Do a full rotation of the Headstock to be sure there is adequate radial clearance. Be sure that the Leading Tool Bit contacts the pipe approximately .020” (.51 mm) to .040” (1.02 mm) before the Trailing Tool Bit. Basic Machining Turn the motor(s) on to full speed.

    TRI TOOL INC. 11. TROUBLESHOOTING Problem: Tool Bit Chatters The tool bit is loose or overextended. The tool bit is damaged. The tool holder is too loose in the slides. The cutting speed is too fast. The clamping pads are loose on the pipe or tube.

Foreign material is on the mating surface of the split lines. Chips and/or other foreign material are in the rotating section.
