seriesfromtheF01/F02onwards.TheVDCintroducedwiththeE70/E71wassystematicallydevel-
opedfurtherfortheF01/F02,F10andnowtheF12usesthelatestversion.
TheEDCreducesundesirablevehiclemovementsthatariseasaresultofadynamicdrivingstyleor
unevenroadway.Thisachievesnoticeableimprovementsinthefollowingareas,evenwithacom-
fort-orientedsportssuspension:

Vehiclebodycomfort

Tirecomfort
•
Drivingdynamics.
WithEDC,theactuatorunitandthespecifiedsatellitesensorsattheshockabsorberareconnectedto
theVDMcontrolunitviaFlexRay.
Theverticalaccelerationofthewheelisrecordedbytheaccelerationsensorsintegratedinthesatel-
lite.
Themovementofthevehiclebodyisdeterminedbasedonthewheelaccelerationandrideheightsig-
nals.Inaddition,signalssuchasthevehiclespeedareacquiredviaFlexRayandusedtodeterminethe
referenceforcesforthedampingaction.
Thecurrentsupplyrequiredforthereboundandcompressionstagevalvesatthedampersisswitched
basedonthecalculatedreferenceforceandthedampercharacteristicmap.
IntheF12,theDynamicDampercontrolisstandardandtheoptionalActiveRollStabilization(ARS,SA
229),isavailableasanoption.

TheActiveRollStabilizationARSwasintroducedforthefirsttimeintheE65/E66.WiththeF12,thisis
availableasoption.(SA229)
ARScanbringaboutanoticeablereductioninthelateraltiltofthebodythatoccursduringfastcorner-
ingoravoidancemaneuvers.Duringthisprocess,theARSreducestherequiredsteeringangleandal-
sominimizestheunwantedinterferencecreatedbythewheelsontheaxle.
TheARSsignificantlyimprovesthebumpsteeraswellastheloadchangeresponseofthevehicle.
