MEQ-2000
SETUP MENU – Compressor/Limiter (COM/LIM)
The COM/LIM module is a combination of compressor and limiter algorithms, designed
primarily for mastering type compression. It provides a useful mix of compression and
limiting functions, depending on the task you need to address. For example, it can
provide a smoother compression ratio for a vocal or instrumental track, or a hard limiter
for avoiding peaks in a mixdown.
There are five active buttons in COM/LIM mode:
F1 – ON
Switches the COM/LIM module on or off.
F2 - CH
Toggles between CH1 and CH2 setup. Only functions if CH LINK in MODE
menu is off.
F3 – PAGE
Switches between two different parameter sets in the parameter window.
F5 – MODE
Switches to MODE menu for advanced options.
F6 – EXIT
Switches to main SETUP menu.

Parameter Window

The
cursor keys can be used to highlight the selected parameter, and the
parameter wheel can be used to change its value.
The following parameters can be viewed and/or adjusted:
THRE
sets up the threshold of the compressor/limiter over a range of 0 to
–60dBFs, in 0.1dB increments.
RATIO
adjusts the degree of compression/limiting over a range of 1:1 (no
compression) to 1:99 in 0.1 increments.
CO/LI
blends between compressor and limiter dynamic operation, over a range
of 1:99 to 99:1. At the 1:99 setting, the COM/LIM module is controlled by
signal loudness (true compressor); at the 99:1 setting the module is
controlled by signal peaks (true limiter).
GAIN
adjusts the output gain over a range of 0 to –THR dB in 0.1 dB increments.
