6 Handling 6.1 Shoe Selection CAUTION Incorrect effective heel height Falling injuries due to loss of functionality When buying new shoes, be sure to observe the predetermined effective heel height. ► Effective Heel Height The effective heel height of the prosthesis is determined during the construction of the prosthesis. The heel height of the prosthesis cannot be altered and is calculated by the heel height minus the forefoot height. -

6.3 Donning the Prosthesis Your Ottobock team instructed you in how to don the prosthesis. The following donning tech nique is well proven: 1) Make preparations such as putting on trousers and the shoe while seated. 2) It is best to stand up in order to don the prosthesis. 3) Open the pelvic socket just wide enough to enter with the amputated side. -
