5. Adjust the A S W E E P / T I M E DIV control © to obtain an
appropriate display. Now a normal s w e e p display is ob-
tained.
121 MAGNIFIED SWEEP OPERATION
Since merely shortening the s w e e p time to magnify a por-
tion of an observed w a v e f o r m can result in the desired por-
tion disappearing off the s c r e e n , s u c h magnified display
should be performed using the M A G N I F I E D S W E E P .
Using the
POSITION © control, adjust the desired por-
tion of w a v e f o r m to the C R T . Pull the P U L L x 1 0 M A G ®
control to magnify the display 1 0 times. For this type of dis-
play the s w e e p time is the S W E E P T I M E / D I V setting divid-
ed by 1 0 .

(3) ALTERNATE SWEEP OPERATION

A s w e e p and B delayed s w e e p are usable in an alternating
fashion making it possible to observe both the normal and
magnified w a v e f o r m simultaneously.
Procedure:
1. Set the HORIZ MODE to A and adjust for a normal w a v e -
form display.
2 . Depress the HOLD O F F control © ( A F T E R D E L A Y ) and
set the HORIZ MODE to A L T . Adjust T R A C E S E P A T A -
TION © for easy observation of both the A and B traces.
The upper trace is the non-magnified portion of the wave-
form with the magnified portion super-imposed as an
intensified section. T h e lower w a v e f o r m is the intensi-
fied portion displayed magnified.
3 . The A R E F / D E L A Y TIME POSITION © control can be used
to continuously slide the magnified portion of the w a v e -
form across the A s w e e p period to allow magnification
of precisely the desired portion of w a v e f o r m .
4 . Set the HORIZ MODE to B to display the INT intensified
portion as a magnified B s w e e p . (Fig. 14)
5. For Starts A F T E R D E L A Y operation, apparent jitter in-
creases as magnification increases. T o obtain a jitter free
display pull the HOLD O F F control out. In this "Trigger-
able After D e l a y " mode the A trigger signal selected by
the S O U R C E s w i t c h © becomes the B trigger source.
