US, US
NSF is disabled for signaling types I-V.

NSF is enabled for SSDC5A signaling.
Table 2-7 describes the procedure for setting the Jumper X11 for in-band
E&M signaling types.

X11
Position
NORM
E&M signaling is conveyed in-band via the voice
channel data. Any changes in the state of the input M
lead (high to low or low to high) will briefly interrupt the
voice traffic as the signaling information is conveyed
end to end. For proper operation, pulse widths shall
be a minimum of 20 ms (20.625 ms at a 4.8 kHz data
rate). This will yield a maximum of 0.625 pulse width
distortion. Both ends of the circuit must be in NORM
mode.
CSIG
E&M signaling is conveyed via the "Controls"
overhead in the multiplexer's aggregate data link.
This is "out of band" since it is not conveyed via the
CELP voice channel. We only recommend on-
hook/off-hook type of E&M signaling with this method
since no guarantee can be given regarding pulse
width distortion. Both ends of the circuit must be in
CSIG mode.
To enable overhead E&M signaling. This position
should be selected on all 036M285-001 assemblies
and on 036M285-002 assemblies when a -001 is at
the other end of the CELP circuit.
NORM
To enable true In-Band E&M signaling. This position
should only be selected when both ends of the CELP
circuit are 036M285-002, -003, -004 or -005.
