Utilities
Introduction
About this chapter
This chapter describes the recommended utilities that may
be used by the service engineer to configure the server,
diagnose faults and test functionality.
Some of the utilities described here are provided, some
must be obtained from an external vendor.
About the utilities
The following utilities are recommended to assist with
servicing, see the following sections in this chapter for
further details:
• Motherboard BIOS manager - used for setting up and
managing the BIOS settings and firmware of the
Motherboard (see "Motherboard BIOS manager" on
page 50).
• HDXchange administration web pages - an
application developed for HDXchange and used to
configure the server and diagnose the status of the Media
and OS RAIDs. Available by accessing the appropriate
URL (see "HDXchange administration web pages" on
page 51).
• 3ware disk manager - an application that provides an
interface to the controlling and monitoring functions of
the 3ware RAID Controller Card (see "3ware disk
manager" on page 55).
• 3ware RAID BIOS manager- used for configuring
Media RAID mirroring and other functions on the RAID
Controller Card (see "Checking RAID controller BIOS
settings" on page 57).
• Pc-Check - a utility produced by Eurosoft, used to test
and diagnose hardware problems down to core
component level (see "Pc-Check" on page 60).
Chapter
• SEL viewer - used to obtain a system error log (SEL).
Available from the SupportWEB (see "SEL viewer" on
page 63).
• PuTTY terminal emulator - used to log on to the
service account from a client machine (see "PuTTY
terminal emulator" on page 64).
