Chapter 2 Preparations

Optical Disk Drive
Procedures for replacing the standard optical disk drive with the optional internal DVD SuperMULTI drive are
described below.
Replacing drives
1.13.1
Follow the procedure below to replace your drive with the optional internal DVD SuperMULTI drive.
1.
Refer to Chapter 2 (1.3 Overview of Installation and Removal) for preparations.
2.
Remove the side cover and front bezel while referring to Chapter 2 (1.4 Removing the Side Cover and
1.5 Removing the Front Bezel).
3.
Refer to Chapter 2 (1.14.1 Installation) and remove all EMI covers that are installed to expansion slots.
If installing file devices, remove the interface cable and power cable connected to the file device, and
then remove the file device.
4.
Remove all cables from the optical disk drive provided with the server.
5.
Lift the right side of the optical disk drive. The
optical disk drive disconnects.
6.
The optical disk drive is inserted into and secured
by hooks on the left side of the optical disk drive, as
shown in the figure to the right. Shift the optical disk
drive to the right. Remove the optical disk drive
from the hooks.
Important
Do not install a DVD SuperMULTI drive other than those specified by NEC.
