By pressing the button on the inside of the
tailgate. Pressing again re-opens the tail‐
gate.
By releasing the button in the driver's door.
Lower tailgate
Opening
Pull the lever and swing the tailgate down.
When open, the tailgate can support loads of
up to 550 lbs/250 kg.
Closing
Swing the tailgate up and press it back into po‐
sition.
Malfunction
Safety information
WARNING
Danger of jamming with folding down the
backrests. There is a risk of injury or risk of
damage to property. Make sure that the area of
movement of the rear backrest and the of the
head restraint is clear prior to folding down.◀
WARNING
If a rear seat backrest is not locked, un‐
secured cargo can be thrown into the car's in‐
terior; for instance, in the event of an accident,
braking or an evasive maneuver. There is a risk
of injury. Make sure that the rear seat backrest
is locked after folding it back.◀

Opening and closing
WARNING
With manual operation of a blocked tail‐
gate, it can release itself unexpectedly from
the blockage. There is a risk of injury or risk of
damage to property. Do not operate the tail‐
gate manually if it is blocked. Have it checked
by a dealer's service center or another quali‐
fied service center or repair shop.◀
Manual unlocking
When there is an electrical malfunction.
1.
Fold the rear seat backrest forward.
2.
In the lower tailgate, loosen and remove
the cover using the onboard vehicle tool kit
or a suitable object.
3.
Pull the strap in the direction of the car's
interior.
The tailgate is unlocked.
4.
The top tailgate opens, press the strap
back in.
5.
Insert and close the cover.
The tailgate is locked again as soon as it is
closed.
Manual operation
Operate the unlocked tailgate manually with a
slow and smooth motion.
To close the tailgate fully, press down lightly
only. Closing occurs automatically.
