4 Replace the side cover. Replace and tighten the 2 screws you removed in Step 2.
5 Reconnect the cables you removed in Step 1, and then press and hold the power button to turn on your
DiskStation.
To make sure that your DiskStation recognizes the new memory capacity:
1 Install DiskStation Manager (DSM). See the next chapter for more information.
2 Log in to DSM as admin or a user belonging to the administrators group.
3 Check Total physical memory
If your DiskStation does not recognize the memory or fails to start up, check if the RAM module has been
installed properly.
To remove a RAM module:
1 Follow Steps 1 to 3 in the "To install a RAM module" section to shut down your DiskStation, disconnect the
cables, and then remove the side cover.
2 Remove a RAM module:
a Gently spread apart the retaining clips on each side of the slot, and the module will pop out.
b Carefully pull the module up and away from the slot.
Note: Hold the RAM module by its edges, and do not touch the gold connectors.
3 Replace the side cover. Replace and tighten the 2 screws you removed in Step 1.
