Maintenance (cont'd)
Replacing the Batteries
As batteries age, the recharge time increases and the
discharge time decreases. Replace them when they
are no longer useful.
For assistance in finding the PowerSonic distributor
nearest you, in the United States call 1-800-554-2243,
ext. 3017. Outside of the United States call
1-414-703-5800, ext. 3017.
1. Remove the pins from the bender. Tilt the top of the
bender back to expose the battery compartment.
2. Remove the battery mounting bracket.
3. Disconnect all of the battery cables. Remove the
batteries.
4. Dispose of the batteries in accordance with local,
state, and federal laws. For the location of the
closest recycling center, in North America call the
RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation)
at 1-800-8-BATTERY. Provide a copy of the battery
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet, supplied with
the 555BAT™) for the battery recycler.
5. Connect the battery cables and cover the battery
terminals with the protective boots, as shown.
Note:
Connect the black battery charger cable
to the negative post of Battery 1. Run the
red battery charger cable through the
protective boot and connect it to the positive
post of Battery 2.
6. Install the battery mounting bracket. Tighten the nut
until it is snug – do not overtighten.
7. Tilt the top of the bender to the vertical position.

Reductor Gearbox

Benzene, carbon-tetrachloride, acetone and other
similar chemicals can damage the rubber gearbox
seals. Use kerosene for flushing the gearbox and
internal parts. Failure to observe this precaution can
result in damage to the seals and gearbox.
The gearbox does not require periodic maintenance. If
the gearbox is opened, flush all of the lubricant from the
box and internal parts with kerosene. Fill the box with 26
fluid ounces of Mobil 634 synthetic oil.
