    Adding or replacing memory Important Use only memory modules designed for your Gateway notebook. Tools Required You need a small Phillips screwdriver to replace memory. The components inside your notebook are extremely sensitive to static electricity, also known as electrostatic discharge (ESD).
  • Page 37 Disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the notebook and remove any PC cards. Turn your notebook over so the bottom is facing up, then remove the battery. For more information, see Loosen the seven memory bay cover screws (these screws cannot be removed).

    Replacing the hard drive kit Tools Required You need a small Phillips screwdriver to replace the hard drive kit. If you would like more hard drive capacity, you can replace your original drive with a higher-capacity drive. Tools Required You need a small Phillips and a small flat-blade screwdriver to replace the keyboard. Removing the keyboard If your keyboard becomes damaged, you can replace it with a similar keyboard obtained from Gateway.
