Safety Guidelines

On-the-job safety is important; therefore, observe the following safety precautions during
all installation or maintenance activity. Failure to do so could result in injury.
Remove all conductive jewelry, such as watches and rings, before servicing powered-
on equipment.
In general power off the equipment being serviced before removing a field replaceable
unit (FRU) or other component. Remember that dangerous voltages could still be
present in some areas even though power is off.
Ground all test equipment and power tools.
Lift objects properly, as outlined under "Lifting Techniques."
Enforce good housekeeping practices in the equipment area to help prevent fire and
accidents.
