If a mounted glass cover is used for measurement, adjustment and calibration
work must also use a mounted glass cover. If working without a glass cover,
then all adjustment and calibration are completed without a glass cover.
Adjustment and calibration must be performed with the optics module that is normally
used. Following a changeover to a new optics module or the expiry of the current
calibration interval, a complete set of re-adjustment and re-calibration work is
required.
Device adjustment is initiated using the REA TransWin32 application. To do so, the
menu option "Adjustment and calibration..." must be selected in TransWin32.
The REA MLV-2D is supplied with a base plate. The base plate cut-out is large enough
to ensure that neither the base plate nor the base plate edges cast shadows on the
measurement image. In some cases, it may be advisable to use a base plate that has
a smaller cut-out than the size of the field of view. The adjustment function identifies
this and configures the image section so that image portions containing the base plate
are cropped out.
Adjustment is performed in three consecutive steps:
1. Level correction (Level correction calibration card, part no. 07601402)
2. Reflectance adjustment (calibration card, part. no. 08300907)
3. Scale adjustment (calibration card, part no. 08300907)
Note: In the previous software versions, the verifier model REA MLV-2D performed
the reflectance adjustment (see section 11.2) first, followed by the level correction.
The REA MLV-2D and its sister model, REA VeriCube, now use the same adjustment
sequence, however.
If an individual step has not been executed correctly, each individual step can be
repeated separately. If an adjustment step was not successful, the old adjustment
data is retained for this step. In this way, the device always remains functional.
The calibration cards are black on the reverse side. This is necessary in order to be
able to perform calibration (and adjustment) work without this being influenced by the
work table's reflectance (normal materials are not opaque). The device must not be
moved while an adjustment step is begin carried out.
