It could be 2 file formats for CF card backup It takes awhile on DVR system to be ready after CF card insertion. A CF mark will show up on middle left screen under playback mode which indicates DVR system is ready for CF backup.

IDE cable must be next to power cable in order to have correct instillation. This DVR supports maxima 2 hard drives, please take a note on cable length that you use to hook up with the hard drive.
