6.0 Maintenance

WARNING: Before performing any electrical or mechani-
cal repairs or maintenance, or removing or disassembling
any component, be sure to de-energize and depressurize
the dryer.
6.1 Blower Intake Filter
Inspect the blower intake filter weekly. The filter is
supplied in one of two styles described below. Both
styles may be removed for cleaning and then reused.
However, do not operate the blower without the intake
filter since this could damage the blower and/or contami-
nate the desiccant beds.
On smaller dryers, the filter has a two piece element,
consisting of an outer foam sleeve and an inner filter
cartridge. Clean the outer foam sleeve by lightly brushing
or vacuuming. The inner cartridge can be cleaned by
using low pressure air or by gently tapping the cartridge
on a flat surface.
On larger dryers, the filter has a one piece polyurethane
element. To clean this element, wash it in a soap and
water solution and then wring dry.
6.2 Blower Motor Bearings
Lubricate the blower motor bearings as recommended by
the motor manufacturer. Refer to the motor instruction
tag.
6.3 Blower Pressure Switch
The blower pressure switch, located in the main electrical
enclosure, is adjustable. Verify that the switch is open
when the blower is off, and closed when the blower is on.
The on/off status of the switch is indicated by an LED on
the programmable logic controller. Refer to the electrical
drawings for details.
6.4 Pilot Air Filter
Inspect the pilot air filter cartridge every six months.
Check the inside of the cartridge for excessive desiccant
dust and replace as needed.
6.5 Desiccant Replacement
Each tower is fitted with flanged fill and drain ports for
desiccant replacement. Replace the desiccant in both
vessels when the designed outlet dew point can not be
maintained. Normal desiccant life in a blower purge dryer
is approximately two years. Before replacing the desic-
cant, a sample should be sent in for analysis. Contact the
service department for details.
WARNING: Observe all safety precautions concerning the
handling of desiccant. Contact the service department
for a copy of the latest MSDS for the desiccant. The
desiccant in one or both towers may be very hot, de-
pending upon when the last regeneration occurred. Use
extreme care to prevent burns.
NOTE: Vacuum out any remaining desiccant before
refilling
6.6 Demand Cycle (Optional)
Replace the dew point sensor yearly and inspect the
sample line filters every six months on dryers equipped
with the demand cycle option
