ZXMW NR8120A/8120D Maintenance Guide
management of OAM helps maintenance personnel monitor real-time network operations,
including frame loss rate, frame delay, and jitter.
This section uses the procedure of checking link connectivity as an example to describe
how to check the Ethernet OAM function. In this example, the equipment reports the
Continuity Check Message (CCM) loss alarm.
Figure 3-3 Troubleshooting Link Connectivity Problems
The following describes the troubleshooting procedure:
1. In the MP configuration window, find the Medium Access Control (MAC) address of
the Remote Maintenance association End Point (RMEP) corresponding to the Local
Maintenance association End Point (LMEP) that reports the CCM loss alarm, and
initiates the Loopback (LB) function towards the MAC address to check the network
connectivity.
l
If the Loopback Reply (LBR) message is returned, the link is connected.
l
If no LBR message is returned, the link is faulty.
2. Initiate the Link Trace (LT) function towards the MAC address found in step 1 to locate
the link problem.
Based on the LT result, find the equipment that last responds the Link Trace Reply
(LTR) message, and check the RMEP MAC address configured for the faulty link on
the equipment, to find out the faulty point-to-point link.
3. Troubleshoot equipment faults at the two ends of the link.
4. Troubleshoot connection media faults between the two ends of the link.
